Bucket List – the Movie

I finally saw the movie that inspired my bucket list and there were a few interesting things from the movie.

In the bonus features, they mentioned that younger people tended to have bucket lists that were mostly accomplishment-focused (ie, drive that cool car, be accomplished/published, leading role in movie, etc) while those past middle age seemed to be more about family and loved ones.  As I watched this, I thought – oh DARN, am I past middle age already?  NOT!  However, I seem to have realized that life is about the experiences small and big that make you happy and it’s the people in your life that seem to have the most impact on how you experience it.  Life does seem to boil down to the people in it – the ones who surround you, and give you hope, peace and happiness.  Period.

They said in the movie that there are two questions that will decide where you end up (if you believe that stuff).  They are: 1) Did you experience joy.  2) Did others experience joy because of you.  I’m thrilled to say absolutely YES on both accounts and already I feel as though I’ve found something magical about the meaning of the life.

Life is what you make of it, today and everyday.
