What would you rather know?

One reason I find ‘parties’ difficult is that people tend to focus on what I consider “weather” material when talking to others.  It’s difficult to have an interesting conversation when the music’s too loud.  My tolerance for discussions about the weather are extremely low (unless the other person is an expert on weather patterns which would then be a bit more interesting).  I find that it takes a little bit of time (and no yelling) to get some little tidbit about someone that makes me go hmmm.  What I like to know about people aren’t their marital status, degree, or their career, though it seems we have to start there.  I prefer to know what makes a person tick: What makes them happy and giddy as pie.  What makes them cry.  What are their secret goals and aspirations.

How about you, what do you want to know about others?  Better still, what do you want others to know about you?
